Lieutenant Commander Harry Quester tries to leave the wars behind and make a new life with Catty Cattaglini. He receives orders to be Executive Office of a destroyer, and he and Catty make plans for a life together. But the dark side of the River Styx has a hold on him and won’t let go. Allman Buddinger, the Mud Fox, escapes from jail and becomes involved in the web of intrigue that surrounds the Huk Long (Black Dragon) Society. The mysterious leader of the Huk Long tries to kill Harry, and Harry must postpone his orders to discover why.
